The federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) offers a comprehensive range of workforce development activities through statewide and local organizations. Available workforce development activities provided in local communities can benefit job seekers, laid off workers, youth, incumbent workers, new entrants to the workforce, veterans, persons with disabilities, and employers.
All WIOA services are provided to eligible applicants on a case-by-case basis with priority given to Yolo County residents.
WIOA Adult Training Program Assistance
Adult & Dislocated Worker training services are provided in the Woodland and West Sacramento Offices.
Some eligibility requirements include:
- Adults (must be 18 years of age or older)
- Living in Yolo County or
- Laid off from a Yolo County employer
- *Males Only* Registered for the Selective Service (or have a documented exemption)
- Check your Registration status here
Some activities include:
- Apprenticeship provides job training that involves following and studying a master at a trade on the job instead of school.
- Job Readiness provides skills necessary to be successful in the workplace such as communication skills and technology skills.
- Occupational Skills Training is provided by an approved school to support in demand short-term training programs that lead to a certificate or license.
- On-the-Job Training employee training at place of work while he/she is doing the actual job.
