The 2018 Creek Walk will be held on June 20-22, 2018.
Every year the Natural Resources Division leads a physical inspection of the active channel and floodplain of lower Cache Creek as a public Cache Creek Technical Advisory Committee meeting. This inspection, called the “Creek Walk,” is held over three days and covers the entire Cache Creek Resources Management Plan area.
The inspection, starting from the Capay Dam to Interstate 5, a distance of approximately 15 miles, is scheduled to occur as follows:
Day 1 (Wednesday, June 20) - Capay Dam to Syar Industries - meet at 7:00 am at 16560 CR 89 in Madison
Day 2 (Thursday, June 21) - Syar Industries to Cache Creek Nature Preserve - meet at 7:00 am at 34199 CR 20 in Woodland
Day 3 (Friday, June 22) - Cache Creek Nature Preserve to Interstate 5 - meet at 7:00 am at 34199 CR 20 in Woodland
The purpose of the Creek Walk is for the Cache Creek Technical Advisory Committee to observe and document the status of channel conditions as they relate to fluvial geomorphology, hydrology and biological resources. Members of the public are invited to attend; however, it must be noted that the Creek Walk is a walking tour and does require moderate physical exertion.
