In 1985, the County of Yolo received funding from the State HOME Mortgage Bond Program to help qualified First Time Homebuyers in Yolo County with down-payment assistance and/or closing costs. Over the years, many participants have chosen to pay off their loans, creating a loan pool available to help another generation of qualified participants. Qualified applicants include:

  • Anyone who has not owned a home as a principal residence at any time in the past three years
  • Those who have been pre-approved for a fixed-rate first mortgage loan
  • Those whose income is below the median-income limits for Yolo County (established annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD]) 
  • Participants who are able to provide a minimum of 3% of the purchase price

Loans will be at 0% interest, secured by a Deed of Trust and promissory note. The property must be owner occupied for the term of the loan.
