Meet Doomis!  He is a Shepherd/Lab mix who is the detection dog for Santa Barbara Canine Detection Program which is responsible for enhancing inspection and surveillance activities related to plant products entering the State via parcel delivery facilities and airfreight terminals.  Doomis replaces Dozier who retired in 2018.

The Yolo County Ag Department is currently contracting with Santa Barbara to allow Doomis to assist with our High Risk Inspection Program.  The team is imperative to keep unwanted pests that can cost approximately $3 billion in control costs, crop losses and in export losses due to restrictions.

Some fun facts about Doomis are:
He weighs approximately 72 lbs
He was found as a stray in Georgia
His favorite toys are soft squeaky toys
and he loves to chase tennis balls.
