TattooThe Safe Body Art Act regulates tattooing, permanent cosmetics, branding, and piercing. This law requires all body art practitioners to annually register with the County and work from an approved and inspected facility. Temporary body art events and mechanical ear piercing businesses are also regulated by the Safe Body Art Act.

Disease can be spread through improperly sanitized equipment and facilities that provide tattoos, piercing, and permanent body cosmetics. These standards are intended to protect both their practitioner and customer from infectious diseases by ensuring sanitary procedures, including the use of sterile equipment. Sanitation and safety conditions of these facilities are monitored through our registration, permitting and inspection program.
