Election Night Reporting in Yolo County

Post Date:11/05/2018 11:09 AM

Press Release

Woodland, CA – Initial 2018 General Election results will be available across multiple formats on election night. After 8pm on Tuesday November 6th, the Yolo County Elections website www.yoloelections.org will begin displaying tabular results of all contests. Statewide contest results will be available via the Secretary of State website www.sos.ca.gov.

In addition, the Yolo County Elections office is providing an interactive election night reporting map that will display results. The maps are a collaboration between the Yolo County Elections Office and the Yolo County Information Technology Department. Individual maps for each of the four voting areas (Winters and unincorporated, Davis, Woodland and West Sacramento) will be available in an interactive format. Each map will display the relevant contests for that area with the ability to display individual results by precinct. “We are pleased to incorporate the latest mapping technology and provide election results as soon as they are available in a format that is easy to digest and understand. We piloted this program in the June 2018 Primary Election and it was very successful and well received. We are happy to provide a more robust model for this election that includes all local contests”, says Jesse Salinas, Yolo County Assessor/Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters.

The election results are not final until after the canvassing process is completed by the Yolo County Elections Office. The California Elections Code requires election officials to complete the official canvass no later than the 28th day after the election and submit a certified statement of the results of the election to the Secretary of State, though the Elections Office may conclude the canvass period earlier. After the election has been certified, official results will be available on the Yolo County Elections website.
