Worm Composting Class October 24

Post Date:10/03/2018 11:36 AM

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – Interested in learning how to turn your kitchen scraps into high quality compost for your garden soil? The Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Garden is hosting a free worm composting class on Wednesday, October 24, from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m.

In this hands-on class, participants will learn how to set up and maintain a simple small-scale worm compost system with the goal of creating a nutrient-rich soil amendment to help their fruits and vegetables grow well. The class will be taught by UC Master Gardener of Yolo County Steve Radosevich, who will be bringing worms to give away to participants. The City of Woodland will also be in attendance to distribute free countertop compost buckets for the kitchen. This is a great opportunity for garden enthusiasts to discover the magic of worm composting and have questions answered.

This class is free to all, and is part of the Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency’s commitment to providing education that can help residents eat fresh fruits and vegetables and live healthier lives. Classes are offered for free throughout the year at the Community Garden. To learn more about the garden activities and classes, visit:
