Community Corrections Partnership Public Input Meetings and Survey
(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo County Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) is hosting three meetings and launching a survey during the month of June to gather community input on public safety realignment to guide the update of the CCP’s strategic plan. The three meetings will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the following dates:
• June 19: Dunnigan Fire Protection District-Station 12, 29145 Main St., Dunnigan
• June 21: Esparto Branch Library, 17065 Yolo Ave., Esparto
• June 27: Marguerite Montgomery Elementary School, 1441 Danbury St., Davis
Under Assembly Bill 109, signed by Governor Jerry Brown in April 2011, certain criminal justice responsibilities were shifted from State prisons and parole boards to counties and superior courts with the goal to close the revolving door of low-level inmates cycling in and out of State prisons. The bill required each county’s CCP to develop and recommend a plan for addressing the county’s needs in response to this Public Safety Realignment. The Yolo County CCP acts as the governing body responsible for developing and submitting public safety realignment implementation recommendations to the Yolo County Board of Supervisors. The CCP includes representatives from the Superior Court of California, County of Yolo; the Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency, Probation Department, District Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office and Sheriff’s Office; and local Police Departments.
“The original strategic plan was developed in 2014,” said Yolo County Chief Probation Officer Brent Cardall. “Since then, we have nearly completed all of the objectives in the 2014 Strategic Plan. Additionally, the criminal justice system has seen many changes. It’s time that we analyze our situation and revise the strategic plan to accommodate both the changing circumstances, as well as the public’s input and concerns.”
In addition to the input gained from these meetings, an online survey is available to provide feedback at www.YoloCounty.org. Staff will also have a table at the Davis Farmers Market on Saturday, June 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., to disseminate the survey and receive feedback from residents.
