The Yolo County Library Delivers

Post Date:06/04/2018 9:09 AM

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – Are you unable to get to your local library branch? If so, the Yolo County Library’s Books by Mail service can deliver.

The Books by Mail service is designed for residents who have a disability, illness or lack of regular transportation that prevents them from visiting their Yolo County Library branch. The service, which delivers and returns library materials free of charge, is also helpful for individuals in the community who have chronic medical conditions or are on the spectrum.

After completing an application and speaking with library staff by phone, Yolo County residents can request specific materials or ask staff to select materials based on personal interest, which are then mailed. Residents can request audiobooks, regular and large print fiction and non-fiction books, international language materials, music CDs, magazines and DVDs that are part of the library’s collection. Items will be loaned for four weeks and may be renewed.

“The Yolo County Library is committed to increasing access to services and resources for local residents and we are excited to offer this program for individuals who cannot easily get to the library or find the library too stimulating or overwhelming,” said Yolo County Librarian Mark Fink.

There is no cost to sign up for the Books by Mail program and no cost to return items. Participants in the program will receive library materials in a reusable canvas book mailer with postage pre-paid by the library. Fees are only charged to replace damaged or lost items.

This program is made possible by Yolo County, donations from the community and the Friends of the Davis Public Library.
