Marijuana Cultivation Ordinance Meeting January 11
(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County has been conducting community meetings to receive input regarding a zoning ordinance for licensed medical marijuana cultivation in the unincorporated areas of the county. To date, meetings have been held in the Capay Valley, Clarksburg, West Davis, Dunnigan, Esparto/Madison, Knights Landing, Woodland and Winters. Another meeting has been added as follows:
Thursday, January 11, 6:00 p.m.
El Macero Country Club
44571 Clubhouse Drive
El Macero, CA 95618
Yolo County allows licensed indoor and outdoor cultivation of medical marijuana in the unincorporated areas of the county in compliance with the county’s Interim Medical Marijuana Cultivation Ordinance. However, the county is now developing modifications to the County’s Zoning Ordinance to require a discretionary Use Permit, the process for which would include noticing of neighbors and a public hearing prior to approval or renewal of a marijuana cultivator’s license. The ordinance will also establish approved zoning for licensed marijuana cultivation.
Effective January 1, 2018, up to six marijuana plants may be grown outdoors at any residence, subject to certain restrictions. However, the county has the authority to prohibit outdoor cultivation of marijuana.
Issues to be discussed at the January 11 meeting include whether or not to prohibit outdoor cultivation, whether or not to include a larger buffer between commercial marijuana cultivation and residential areas, public safety and mitigation of impacts to the community.
