Davis Branch Library Hosting a Free Workshop on Identity Theft Prevention and Protection

Post Date:11/13/2017 9:26 AM
(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo County Library is partnering with Travis Credit Union to provide financial education to the community with a free workshop on Identity Theft Prevention and Protection on Tuesday, November 28 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis. Registration is encouraged and can be accessed at, but it is not required in order to attend.

The workshop will help individuals understand how people make themselves vulnerable to identity theft and provide tips on how they can protect their Social Security number from fraud. Individuals will learn how to spot phishing attacks on their email in-boxes, shop safely online and understand the steps to take if they become a victim of fraud.

“Travis Credit Union will provide local and online resources to help the community navigate through the aftermath of the Equifax security breach,” said Interim County Library Administrator Chris Crist. “We hope residents will take advantage of this free opportunity to learn more about protecting their personal information.”

The Yolo County Library supports personal development through collaborations with local organizations to provide educational and valuable programming. This program is sponsored by the Travis Credit Union, Friends of the Davis Public Library and Yolo County Library.
