Soil Fertility Gardening Class February 29

(Woodland, CA) – Interested in learning how to enrich the soil in your garden by increasing its fertility? The Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency is hosting a free soil fertility gardening class on Saturday, February 29 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hanna & Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden, located at 137 N. Cottonwood Street in Woodland, behind the Bauer Building.

In this hands-on class participants will learn how cover-cropping and backyard composting, including the use of worms, can add organic matter in their garden with the goal of creating nutrient-rich soil to help fruits and vegetables grow well. This is a great opportunity for garden enthusiasts to discover various compost system designs and have questions answered.

Participants must pre-register by February 28 by contacting David Linebarger at (530) 666-8429 or Participants are encouraged to dress for cold weather and wear shoes that can get dirty. In the event of steady rain, the class will be postponed.
