Yolo County Launches 2020-2024 Strategic Plan

Press Release

Yolo County Launches 2020-2024 Strategic Plan

(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County has begun implementation of the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan which was formally approved by the Board of Supervisors on December 17, 2019. For the next five years, the strategic plan will serve as a guiding document for the Board of Supervisors to set policy direction and priorities for the County organization.

Over the 2019 calendar year, the County embarked on a development process to form and establish the new strategic plan. The process began with an extensive engagement effort by the County to seek input from the community as well as advisory bodies and special districts regarding their priority interests. Input was gathered through a survey, interactive public meetings, and pop-up booths at local events. The Board then hosted six workshops to review and discuss County approaches to the topics derived from the engagement efforts.

Based on this process, staff formed and finalized a five year strategic plan focused on five goals: Thriving Residents, Safe Communities, Sustainable Environment, Flourishing Agriculture, and Robust Economy. Each goal has associated outcomes, measurable metrics, and specific strategies to aid in implementation as well as annual priorities. County staff will lead the plan’s implementation and work alongside community partners to ensure success. In order to increase transparency and effective measurement of progress, staff will provide quarterly updates to the Board of Supervisors and will establish a publicly available online dashboard to display the strategic plan metrics.

“As we embark on implementation, it is my desire that the Strategic Plan will be a living document that is flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances while maintaining our strategic focus,” said Yolo County Board of Supervisors Chair Gary Sandy. “Through these implementation efforts, it is my aspiration and those of the Board of Supervisors that the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan will establish and nurture a positive and sustainable change in our shared and beloved community for years to come.”
