Butterfly Release on October 6
In Recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

(Woodland, CA) – In recognition of National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, the Yolo County Health & Human Services Agency’s Fetal/Infant Mortality Program invites the community to a remembrance ceremony and butterfly release on Sunday, October 6 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery and Arboretum, located at 820 Pole Line Road in Davis.

The free butterfly release ceremony will honor the memories of pregnancies and babies lost and recognize the grief that parents and families experience in our community. Families and attendees will be able to visit and converse after the ceremony.

“When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan.  When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower.  When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them,” said former President Ronald Regan, who first declared October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month in 1988.

Reserve a free butterfly by September 27 by contacting: Emily.Ault@yolocounty.org or Gaby.Castenada@yolocounty.org. For more information, call 530-490-1765.
