September Community Garden Classes Celebrate Farm to Fork Month
(Woodland, CA) – September is Farm to Fork month and to celebrate, the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden in Woodland is hosting three free classes throughout the month that focus on food preservation.
These classes will be taught by UC Master Food Preservers and Master Gardeners. The classes will be held on Wednesdays September 11, September 18 and September 25 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The weekly class topics, in order by date, include fruit and vegetable drying, seed saving and fruit and vegetable canning. No gardening experience is necessary to participate and all are welcome to attend.
The Sacramento region is known as the Farm to Fork capital of the country and these classes offer Yolo County residents an opportunity to enhance their ability to consume fresh, local produce by gaining skills and knowledge that make home gardening and food preserving fun and easy.
Pre-registration is required for each course one day prior to the class and participants can register for classes individually or for all three. To register, contact David Linebarger at (530) 666-8429 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The garden is located at 137 N. Cottonwood Street in Woodland, behind the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency Bauer Building. Participants are encouraged to dress for warm weather and bring water. In the event of extreme heat, the classes will be moved inside.
Classes are offered for free throughout the year at the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Garden. To learn more about the garden activities and classes, visit: www.yolocounty.org/garden.
