Become an Advocate for Literacy: Volunteer for Yolo Reads!

(Woodland, CA) – Become a volunteer tutor and make a difference by joining the Yolo County Library’s Adult & Family Literacy program, Yolo Reads. An orientation for new tutors will be held on Monday, June 24, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis.

“The need for tutors is substantial and real,” said Yolo Reads Coordinator Nancy Pacheco. “One in six Yolo County residents cannot read and write sufficiently to carry out daily activities at work and home. This ultimately affects the family and community.”

For those interested in tutoring, no experience is necessary, the hours are flexible, and Yolo Reads provides all necessary training and materials. For more information about Yolo Reads, other volunteer opportunities, or being a volunteer tutor, call: (530) 666-8019 or email:
