Emergency Preparedness Meetings for Woodland on May 29 and May 30

Post Date:05/14/2019 2:49 PM

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – On Wednesday, May 29, and again on Thursday, May 30, each evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the Yolo County Office of Emergency Services and the City of Woodland will be hosting informational meetings related to emergency preparedness at the Woodland Community and Senior Center, located at 2001 East Street in Woodland. Woodland residents are encouraged to attend one of these meetings (the same information will be presented at each) to learn about Yolo County’s new evacuation plan and how they can prepare for an emergency.

Yolo County has been divided into 91 evacuation zones, including six for the City of Woodland. Information will be provided during the May 29 and May 30 sessions on those evacuation zones, the evacuation routes and what the evacuation process would look like in an emergency. Residents can find their evacuation zone by entering ‘evacuate.yolocounty.org’ in their Internet browser address bar and then entering in their home or business address. Evacuation zone brochures will be provided at the meetings.

General preparedness information for creating an emergency plan, building an emergency kit, planning for pets and populations with additional needs, and signing up for emergency alerts will also be provided during the May 29 and May 30 sessions. Residents can prepare now by registering to receive emergency alerts via alternate phone numbers and e-mail addresses at www.Yolo-Alert.org or by contacting the Yolo County Office of Emergency Services at OES@yolocounty.org.

Yolo County and the City of Woodland urge Woodland residents to use this opportunity to prepare for the hazards that threaten their community, and to take proactive steps to ensure timely receipt of information during an emergency.

Similar meetings have already been held in other Yolo County communities, and additional meetings will be announced once scheduled.
