- Introduction: September is Farm to Fork month, and the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden in Woodland is celebrating with three free gardening classes that focus on food preservation throughout the month. These gardening classes will be taught by UC Master Food Preservers and Master Gardeners.
The classes will be held on three Wednesday evenings, the 11th, 18th and 25th from 5:15 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. The weekly class topics, in order by date, include fruit and vegetable drying, seed saving, and fruit and vegetable canning.
The Sacramento region is known as the Farm to Fork capital of the country, and these classes offer Yolo County residents an opportunity to enhance their ability to consume local, fresh produce by gaining skills and knowledge that make home gardening and food preserving fun and easy.
Participants can register for these free classes individually, or for all three. To register, contact David Linebarger at (530) 666-8429 or email@example.com. Please register at least one day prior to the class(es) you plan to attend. No gardening experience is necessary to participate and all are welcome to attend. Participants are encouraged to dress for warm weather and bring water. In the event of extreme heat, the classes will be moved inside.
Classes are offered for free throughout the year at the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Garden. To learn more about the garden activities and classes, visit: www.yolocounty.org/garden.
