July marks the height of fresh, seasonal produce in Yolo County and we are celebrating by offering a free community healthy recipes showcase. This event will include simple cooking demos, taste tests, and recipe ideas using fresh garden produce to help you creatively transform your garden bounty into easy and healthy meals and snacks. We will feature recipes from our CalFresh Healthy Living program and Eatfresh.org, a free online nutrition and recipe resource. See flyer attached for more details. No experience is necessary to attend and please spread the word to family and friends!
This event aims to:
Provide a sample of healthy snacks and dishes made with fresh garden produce
Teach participants to make healthy snacks and dishes that are quick and easy
Increase participant knowledge and appreciation for seasonal produce local to Yolo County
Feature recipes from CalFresh Healthy Living and Leah’s Pantry
Answer questions about anything gardening and nutrition related
Please bring water and sun protection, as the class is outside in the garden; in the event of extreme heat the class will be moved inside!
