NOTE: Juvenile Cases - In reading the Welfare and Institutions Code, which discusses the confidentiality of juvenile records and the Legislature's belief that confidentiality in these cases is necessary to further the rehabilitative efforts in the juvenile justice system, we believe that, absent statutory exceptions, we are precluded from providing any information or documents in juvenile matters.

Collins: Defendant plead no contest to Involuntary Manslaughter and will be sentenced to 4 years county prison.

 

Tello: Defendant plead no contest to Felony Accessory.

 

Aradoz: Defendant plead no contest to Felony Accessory.

 

Gonzalez: Defendant was convicted of Second Degree Murder with gang enhancements.  The Court also found that he had strikes for gang related conduct.

 

Velazquez: Defendant was convicted of First Degree Murder, with enhancements for use of a deadly weapon, participation in gang related crime, and special circumstances that the murder was carried out to advance his gang.

Defendant Victor Vergara Plead to added Count 4, a violation of Penal Code 192 (Manslaughter) for 11 years, plus a gang enhancement under Penal Code 186.22(b)(1)(C) for an additional 10 years, as well as personal use of a knife under Penal Code 12022(b)(1) for an additional year for a total of 22 years related to the killing of Peter Gonzales.  Vergara plead to additional charges related to an assault in jail (alleged in a separate case - 17-7771), which was a violation of Penal Code 245(a)(4), Assault by Means of Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, for an additional year in prison, an enhancement for causing Great Bodily Injury for an additional year in prison, and an enhancement for street gang activity under PC 186.22(b)(1)(C), for  an  additional 3 years and 4 months in prison, for a total prison commitment (in both cases) of 27 years and 4 months.  Sentencing is to take place on January 29, 2018, at 9:00 in Department 14. 

All remaining defendants in case 15-5378, besides Vergara, were dismissed.  In the jail assault case, 17-7771, co-defendants Anthony Rivera and Joseph Sandeno plead to a felony violation of Penal Code section 245(a)(4), Assault by Means of Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury, with the judge to determine if the defendants will get probation or prison on February 7, 2018, at 10:00 in Department 14.

17H05457 West Sacramento man charged with three counts of murder, in the deaths of his three children; one count of attempted murder, in the attempted murder of his wife; and special circumstances.

No Further Court Dates

On 1/19/18, Defendant was sentenced to three terms of Life in Prison Without Parole.

 

On 12/14/17, Defendant, Robert Hodges, plead guilty to all of the crimes in the complaint, including murdering his 3 children with special circumstances and attempting to murder his wife. He will be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The District Attorney carefully considered all of the factors in aggravation and mitigation under California law related to the punishment. Ultimately, the surviving family's desire for a swift and certain conclusion to this heartbreaking case led us to the conclusion that this resolution was most appropriate.  The defendant will die in prison.
