Dorsey, Darnell 14F00394 Sacramento man accused of assaulting his girlfriend's child causing child's death in Davis. PX 12/8/14 9:00 D-1 People's Motion to Continue was granted. The motion was filed due to the unavailability of two key witnesses.

Defendant pled No Contest to both counts in the charging document – Hit and run causing death and driving on a suspended license.  Court indicates that it will reduce the felony to a misdemeanor in 18 months.

Defendant was sentenced to 60 days county jail; and 3 years formal felony probation.  The will be a review hearing to discuss restitution.

Court denied DA Motion to reconsider; Court sentenced defendant to 1 day county jail & ordered $2,411 restitution.

Lopez, Mario 14F02504  Defendant linked to more burglary cases.  J/S 9/30/14 9:00 D-6 Defendant pled No Contest to multiple counts of burglary.  Defendant will be sentenced, as part of the plea, to 22 years state prison.

Marsh, Daniel 13H02418 Davis murder of Claudia Maupin and Oliver Northup.

The jury found Daniel Marsh to be sane at the time he committed both murders. The Yolo County District Attorney's Office will be holding a press conference today at 3:00 PM. The press conference is for official media only (no public will be allowed). The planned speakers are: The lead trial prosecutor, Asst. Chief DDA Michael Cabral, Davis Police Chief Landy Black, and members of the Northup & Maupin families. Hearing on Defendant's post trial motions set for 11/12/14.

The jury returned verdicts of Guilty on all charges and found all enhancements to be true. (A copy of the information, with the list of charges, can be viewed by clicking on the DA file number link.)

A minor, James  Case #: JD 14-306  16 year old charged in juvenile court with murdering 2 year old foster child  J/S 10/21/14 1:00 D-3 Minor pled No Contest to Count 1, Murder, and Count 2, Assault on a Child Under 8 with Force Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury Resulting in Death.

Welfare & Institutions Code 676(a) permits the public to observe juvenile court proceedings such as this.
Morejohn, Justin 12F00046 Sexual assault case by former CHP officer. TSC

Nunes, Heath 14F04223 Defendant charged with multiple counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm upon a peace officer; resisting arrest; exhibiting weapon against peace officer; and carrying a concealed weapon. Motion to continue sentencing hearing filed. Judge Mock is not available on the date set for the hearing on October 17th.

Defendant Pled No Contest to all charges in the complaint (17 counts). As he pled to all counts, the DA had no role in this plea.  The judge made no promises as to the sentence.   There will be a sentencing hearing on 10/17/14. The case was referred to the Probation Department for a presentence report.
