Pfizer Inc. Issues a Nationwide Voluntary Recall of Oral Contraceptives
Pfizer Inc. recently issued a nationwide, voluntary recall of the oral contraceptives Lo/Ovral®-28 and Norgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol. The recall has been implemented due to a packaging error, where some blister packs may contain an inexact count of inert or active ingredient tablets or where the tablets may be out of sequence.
Because of this packaging error, the daily regimen may be incorrect, leaving women at risk for unintended pregnancy. Consumers exposed to affected packaging should start using a non-hormonal backup method of contraception immediately.
The recall includes the following products:
Lo/Ovral®-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol)
Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic)
