Thank you for your interest in doing business with Yolo County. Our vendors make a valuable contribution to the health, safety and welfare of the communities and taxpayers we serve and we appreciate your efforts to provide the county with quality products and services.
Countywide procurement is structured centralized and decentralized. Countywide contracts are administered by the Purchasing Division, under the General Services Department (GSD); whereas individual departments handle many of their own procurement functions.
The mission of the Purchasing Division is to maintain the continuity of services and supplies necessary to support the efforts of the various Yolo County Departments.
Written specifications are used in the procurement process to describe the required level of quality, quantity, delivery, and scope of work. In addition to the specifications, terms and conditions governing the purchase will also be outlined in the Invitation to Bid, Request for Quotations or Request for Proposals.
A County Contract allows a vendor to sell goods and services to the County on an as-needed basis. If you are awarded a Contract you should carefully review the terms and conditions and the transaction limits to ensure any orders shipped are within the scope of the Contract.
In instances where vendors, contractors and consultants, or their representatives, will be working on County property, the County requires that a certificate of insurance, with coverage at the minimum limits required by the Contract, be on file with Purchasing. Separate endorsements, naming the County as “Additional Insured”, are required for General Liability and Automobile Insurance. In addition, Workers’ Compensation Insurance that meets the minimum State requirements must also be provided.
Gifts and Gratuities
The County recognizes the responsibility of all of its employees to maintain good relations with all members of the vendor community and believes this can be accomplished in a professional manner without gifts or gratuities interfering with and/or influencing employees. As such, the County maintains a strict policy prohibiting the acceptance by its employees of gifts and/or gratuities from any vendor or potential vendor.
