Assessing property is a big business. The Yolo County assessment Roll is over $20 billion and consists of more than 62,000 assessments.

The Assessor is an official elected for a four-year term. This department is responsible for appraisals of all real and personal property in the County, except public utility property, which is appraised by the State Board of Equalization. The Assessor maintains records on business and real property characteristics and sales. Annually the Assessor prepares the local assessment roll identifying each property, the ownership, and the net taxable value. The tax roll is presented to the Auditor-Controller on or before July 1st of each year.
