We offer the following services:
- Tuberculosis - microscopic and culture examination.
- Mycology (fungus) - isolation and identification of molds and yeasts.
- Diarrheal Diseases - isolation and identification of Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, E. coli O157:H7, Vibrio sp. (on request), and Yersinia (on request).
- Bacteriology- isolation and identification of organisms such as Chlamydia, Brucella, Bordetella, etc.
- Parasitology- microscopic examination for intestinal parasites, pinworms, and blood parasites.
- Syphilis - serological tests such as VDRL and FTA (available at the State Laboratory).
- HIV antibody screen tests on blood and oral fluid. Positive specimens are sent to the State Laboratory for supplemental tests (IFA and WB).
- Rabies on animals.
- Water Bacteriology - multiple fermentation tubes, colilert and heterotrophic plate counts.
- Testing of food for bacteria in food borne illness investigations
- Laboratory Guidance for Select Agents (Specimen Collection and Handling)
Services we offer via another laboratory:
- Nitrite/Nitrate testing in water (service is only available through our Environmental Health Division) - Monterey County Public Health Laboratory.
- Virology (serology, microscopic, and isolation), special serology (malaria, cat scratch fever, etc.) – California Department of Public Health, Microbial Diseases Lab (MDL) and Viral-Rickettsial Disease Lab (VRDL).

- ELAP (California Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program)
