Programs for Children
|
Children ages birth to 36 months -MOTHER GOOSE ON THE LOOSE is an early-learning program where parents and babies engage in active learning during 30 minutes of play, music, activities and story time. Calendar

Preschool ages 3 to 5 years - Story time is offered two times per week. Children and their parents are introduced to reading through books, felt board stories, finger plays, activities and crafts. Calendar

School Age 5 years and older - School age programs are offered throughout the year and include Summer Reading Programs, stories, guest presentations, puppets, music, and arts and crafts. Calendar |

| Programs for Teens |
Ages 13 and up The Arthur F. Turner Library offers free programming for young adults in grades 7-12. Young Adults can join the West Sacramento Teen Advisory Council help plan the Annual Poetry Slam, and make recommendations and suggestions for materials and events that they would like to see in the library.
The library and the West Sacramento Friends of the Library sponsor events and speakers that have included: the Teen Summer Reading Program, musical performances, a media swap, poetry slam, book discussion group, teen reading club, guest speakers and more.

Programs for Adults
|
AFT Library Book Club An ongoing adult Book club meets one Thursday evening each month. Meeting dates and locations are announced each month. For information on meeting dates and times contact: (916) 375-6465, or e-mail the Adult Services Librarian at: cheryl.chapel@yolocounty.org
Adult Summer Reading Book Club Join Adult Summer Reading Book Club, read 10 books, and get a free book bag or gift certificate to the Avid Reader Bookstore!
Other Events Various events are scheduled and announced throughout the year and include: Speakers, library book sales, and collaborative events with local clubs and organizations. All events are sponsored by the West Sacramento Friends of the Library, including other local clubs and agencies. Calendar

Computers and the Internet
|
The Library offers free access to 30 Internet computers and one word processing only computer. Library customers must have a library card and PIN for computer use.

|
- Customers can login for multiple sessions per day
- Standard session length is one hour
- Maximum time of 90 minutes per day
- Library users without a PIN can create one at the Check-out or Information desk, or by following the instructions on our Frequently Asked Questions page
- Wireless Access is available, free of charge, throughout the Library

Services and Resources
|
- Library Materials for check-out include: Books, CDs, DVDs, Newspapers, Large Print Materials, and Magazines in English, Spanish, and Russian.
- Reference Services: The library reference staff assist teen library users in locating resources, information and in the use of our online databases and catalog.
- Online databases include access to: the NoveList reader's advisory database, the Learning Express Library with practice standardized tests and employment testing, full text articles and brief citations in
newpapers, encyclopedias, magazines, and journals.
- Interlibrary loan services: provide access to materials from a variety of libraries.
- Career Special Collection: has resources and information on colleges, careers, job hunting etc.
- Group library tours: available by appointment for local schools and college classes.
