Requesting Interlibrary Loans
What is an interlibrary loan? If you can't find the title you are looking for in our catalog we can request it from another library system outside of Yolo County. This service is at no cost. Materials that are more current than 6 months or that are owned by the Yolo County Library can't be requested. Most libraries will not lend CDs or DVDs because of their fragility. Please note that you are allowed no more than 4 pending ILL requests at one time. If a 5th request is placed the system will hold it until the previous requests have been received and checked out.
How do I request something via interlibrary loan? Search for the item by author, title, subject or keyword in the Yolo County Library online catalog. If the material you are looking for is not in the catalog then click on either the blue button labeled "Request from another Library System" or the large pink and blue button labeled "Don't Find it Here?" You must have Allow Cookies setting enabled on your PC to access this site. To enable, go to Tools, then Internet Options, then Privacy and then click on the Advanced button. Click on Override Automatic Cookie Handling and make sure that the Accept radio button is highlighted.

Search by keyword, author, title or ISBN.
-
A list of materials matching your search will appear. Most books not already owned by Yolo County Library can be requested by clicking on the title and then on the ILL button towards the top of the screen.
-
To request the material you will be asked for your name, barcode number, a date needed by and any information on the handling of the request. Please indicate if you are willing to pay if the loaning library charges a fee for the request. This fee request is most common for newspaper or magazine articles. Only your name and barcode number are required.
-
If Yolo County Library owns any of the titles listed they will be marked with a green label and must be requested directly from the Yolo County Library catalog or library branch staff.
-
Once the request is placed it will be processed the same or the next business day, but please note that since these requests are coming from other library systems they may take up to 2-4 weeks or more to be filled.
