Public Meetings for Yolo County Off-Highway Vehicle Park Project

Post Date:02/16/2018 4:16 PM

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – The Yolo County Natural Resources Division and General Services Department are hosting two public meetings regarding community interest in a possible Off-Highway Vehicle Park within Yolo County. The first meeting will be on Thursday, February 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Norton Hall, located at 70 Cottonwood Street in Woodland. The second meeting will be on Thursday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. in the Arthur F. Turner Library, located at 1212 Merkley Avenue in West Sacramento. These public meetings are intended to foster a meaningful conversation between members of the public and county staff, and provide guidance for the next steps of the process.

Over the past several years the public has expressed a desire for sanctioned Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) recreational opportunities in Yolo County. In an effort to respond to this desire, Yolo County is exploring the possibility of creating an OHV park within the unincorporated county. The first step is to engage the public in order to gain insight into the preferred type of OHV facilities and services.

“Yolo County is excited to get feedback from the public and move forward with determining the feasibility for an OHV park,” said Elisa Sabatini, manager of natural resources. “With nearly 7,000 OHVs registered in Yolo County, we want to learn more about what facilities and services residents would like to see in a Yolo County OHV park.”

The meetings will involve a brief presentation about the project, followed by questions from staff to the public about OHV park services and preferences. Attendance is encouraged. An online survey is available for those who cannot attend: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ohvyolo.
