Post Date:02/02/2018 11:03 AM

Press Release

(Woodland, CA) – All are invited to the groundbreaking celebration for the Esparto Park and Aquatic Center on February 15 at 4:00 p.m. The event will be held at 17257 Yolo Avenue in Esparto (the intersection of Yolo Avenue and Plainfield Street) across from the Esparto High School.

“This pool and aquatic center has been a dream for community members for many years,” said Yolo County Supervisor Duane Chamberlain, whose district includes Esparto. “The path to this groundbreaking has been a true collaboration amongst many agencies who have a vested interest in the health and quality of life for residents in Esparto. We are thankful to our partners: Yoche Dehe Wintun Nation, California Department of Parks & Recreation, Esparto Unified School District, Western Yolo Recreation Center Association and Capay Valley Vision.”

Major features of this new facility will include a little league baseball/softball field, a multi-use playing field, full basketball court, two pools, an aquatics building including changing rooms with restrooms, outdoor showers, office and storage room, meeting room, snack bar and field restrooms, fenced pool equipment area, a pedestrian bridge, walking trail, parking area for 60 cars and a central gathering area. Construction is projected to begin in February or March, with completion in January 2019.

Presenters at the February 15 groundbreaking will include representatives from Capay Valley Vision, Yolo County Board of Supervisors, Esparto Unified School District and Western Yolo Recreation Center Association. The groundbreaking celebration is an outdoor event. As the ground may be muddy or wet, participants are encouraged to dress accordingly.
