Historic Yolo County Courthouse Celebrates Centennial Dec 2
(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County and various civic organizations are coming together to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the construction of the Historic Yolo County Courthouse on Saturday, December 2 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 725 Court Street in Woodland.
The Historic Yolo County Courthouse was built in 1917. In 1987, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. It served as the Superior Court of California’s Yolo County Courthouse until the new courthouse was built in 2015. The historic courthouse currently houses Yolo County departments.
The public is invited to join in the 100th anniversary celebration on December 2 which will include art activities for children, tours of the first floor of the building, living history activities and original courthouse artifacts and pictures on display. Weather permitting, the welcome ceremony will take place on the front steps of the courthouse at 1:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend this free event and the open house to follow until 4:00 p.m.
“Please join us as we celebrate 100 years of this beautiful and historic landmark in the heart of Woodland,” said Yolo County Supervisor Matt Rexroad.
