Davis Branch Library Presents a Film Screening of Tyrus Wong, Artist Who Inspired Disney’s “Bambi”
(Woodland, CA) – Yolo County Library is pleased to host a documentary film screening of “Tyrus” in the Blanchard Room of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library, located at 315 E. 14th Street in Davis. The film screening will begin at 2:00 p.m. on September 23. Community members are encouraged to join the screening and discussion that follows.
“Tyrus” examines the life and work of pioneering Chinese American artist Tyrus Wong. The documentary film shows how he overcame a life of poverty, racism, and discrimination to become a celebrated painter and Hollywood sketch artist. The film uses Tyrus Wong’s art, archival footage, and commentary to document how his unique style inspired breathtaking visuals in the Disney animated film “Bambi” and set designs for early Hollywood movies.
This event is free and open to the public. No reservation is required. The Yolo County Library promotes enriching and diverse programming and values the diversity in Yolo County and the country.
