Free Garden Academy in Woodland to Celebrate Farm to Fork Month
(Woodland, CA) – September is Farm to Fork month, and the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden in Woodland is celebrating with a Farm to Fork Garden Academy. The academy will feature five gardening classes taught by master gardeners, master preservers and seed savers. No gardening experience is necessary to participate and all are welcome to attend.
The academy will be held every Wednesday in September from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. The weekly class topics, in order by date, include composting, seed saving, tomato preservation and fall gardening 101. Additionally, a plant propagation class will be held on Saturday, September 16th from 10:15 to 11:30 a.m.
The Sacramento region is known as the Farm to Fork capital of the country. This academy offers Yolo County residents an opportunity to enhance their ability to consume local, fresh produce by gaining skills and knowledge that make home gardening fun and easy.
Participants can register for classes individually or for the entire academy. Those who complete all five classes will receive a cooking-inspired gift bag at the end of the academy. To register, contact David Linebarger at (530) 666-8429 or email@example.com. Please register at least one day prior to the classes you plan to attend.
The Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden is located at 137 N. Cottonwood Street, behind the Yolo County Health and Human Services Agency Bauer Building. Participants are encouraged to dress for warm weather and bring water.
Classes are offered for free throughout the year at the Hanna and Herbert Bauer Memorial Community Garden. To learn more about garden activities and classes, visit: www.yolocounty.org/garden.
