Press Release
Winters Community Library Grand Opening November 14
(Woodland, CA) – On Saturday, November 14, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., a grand opening celebration will be held for the new Winters Community Library, a Yolo County branch library, located at 708 Railroad Avenue in Winters. This free, family-friendly event will include dancing, music, crafts and light refreshments.
Yolo County, the Winters Joint Unified School District, the City of Winters and generous contributions from the Margaret Parsons Trust, the Winters Friends of the Library and private donors have allowed for construction of this new public library that will be Yolo County’s first joint-use library. While functioning as a public library, it will also be the school library for Winters High School. The Winters Community Library is located on the high school site on Railroad Avenue near the Bobbie Greenwood Swim Center.
During the grand opening celebration, help stations will be staffed to assist patrons in acquiring new library cards, checking-out materials and learning how to use the self-check-out machine. Outreach booths will also be staffed to provide information on Yolo County’s many unique library programs. Special activities during the celebration will include a craft table for children, presentations by local dance groups and face painting for children. Refreshments will be provided by Winters High School students and other community members.
“Please join us for the Winters Community Library grand opening on Saturday, November 14,” said Yolo County Librarian Patty Wong. “We have much to celebrate and look forward to showing off our newest branch library, almost three times the size of the former library, with lovely high ceilings, lots of windows and beautiful landscaping all around, and all the amenities of a modern library.”
